Matt Johnson Obtains Complete Defense Verdict in Hennepin County Jury Trial
Matt Johnson recently obtained a complete defense verdict in a case involving a rear end collision and a plaintiff alleging the accident caused him to undergo right hip replacement surgery.
In this case, our client, the defendant, followed plaintiff in a merge lane onto a highway and rear ended plaintiff’s vehicle. Plaintiff alleges the accident caused him to undergo right hip replacement surgery. He alleged past medical expenses of over $100,000.
After a three-day jury trial, the jury concluded defendant was not negligent and not at fault for the accident. Further, the jury found the accident did not cause the right hip injury. Further, the jury determined damages related to the accident were limited to $6,178.00 for past medical expenses, $2,500.00 for past pain and suffering, no damages for future medical expenses, and no future pain and suffering. Based on the no negligence determination, plaintiff was not entitled to recover and damages.
